THE UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS SINGERS
Die University of Santo Tomas Singers wurden 1992 gegründet. Es ist das erste gemischte Chorensemble der Universität bestehend aus einer Gruppe ausgewählter Studenten und Absolventen, die die verschiedenen Colleges und Fakultäten der königlich , bischoflichen Universität of Santo Tomas in Manila repräsentieren.
Der Chor steht unter der Leitung von Prof. Fidel Gener Calalang Jr.

Im Laufe von neun Jahren in der internationalen Chormusik- Szene und acht Konzerttouren, welche sie nach Deutschland, Polen, Monaco, Österreich, Spanien, die Niederlande, Belgien, Schweiz, Dänemark, England Wales, Schottland, Frankreich, Andorra, Bulgarien, Italien, Mexico, und den U.S. Staaten Californien, Nevada, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Washington D.C.,Virginia, Maryland, Delaware,New Jersey, Connecticut, Hawaii, Pennsylvannia, Florida, Missouri, New York und Guam führte, erreichte der Chor sowohl nationale als auch internationale Anerkennung als einer der besten Chöre in der Welt.

Das Repertoire des Chores beinhaltet bedeutende Teile der Chorliteratur der letzten fünf Jahrhunderte und bahnte den Weg des Erfolges für die Gruppe in verschiedene internationalen Chorwettbewerben besonders in Europa. Seit 1993 gewann die Gruppe 24 Hauptpreise in Gorizia/Italien, Tours/Frankreich, Lindenholzhausen/Deutschland, Miedzyzdroje/Polen, Spittal/Österreich, Tolosa/Spanien und Wales.

!995 hatten die UST Singers ihren Triumph auf dem 47th Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.
Dort gewannen sie vier erste Preise und den Titel Choir of the World Grand Prize was unbestreitbar ein Meilenstein in der ganzen Geschichte von Eisteddfod, dem ältesten internationalen Chorwettbewerbes in der Welt, ist. Es machte den Chor zum ersten und einzigen aiatischen Chor der dieses hohe Ziel bisher erreichte.

Desweiteren gewannen die UST Singers 1998 zwei Hauptpreise und den Publikumspreis beim 27th Florilege Vocal de Tours in Tours in Frankreich. Sowie den Gran Premio"Citta di Gorizia" zusammen mit vier Hauptpreisen beim 37th Concorso Internationale di Canto Corale "C. A.Seghizzi" in Gorizia, Italien. Womit der Chor die Berechtigung erlangte Gorizia beim 11th European Grand Prix of Choral Singing in Varna, Bulgarien im Mai 1999 zu vertreten.

Last but not least,während der Pazific Konzert Tour 2001,bei der der Chor Hawaii und Californien besuchte, repräsentierten die UST Singers die Philippinen beim World Choral Festival in Puebla, Mexico. Wiedereinmal waren sie umjubelt und gewannen die Auszeichnung " Bester Chor". An diesem Wettbewerb nahmen Chöre aus Argentinien, Tschechien, Österreich, Slovenien, Venezuela, Mexico Griechenland Italien, Portugal, Spanien und der Slowakei teil.

THE UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS SINGERS
The University of Santo Tomas Singers, founded in 1992, is the University s premiere mixed choral ensemble composed of a select group of students and alumni representing the different colleges and faculties of the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines under the baton of Prof. Fidel Gener Calalang Jr.

In the course of nine (9) years in the international choral music scene and eight (8) concert tours that brought them to Germany, Poland, Monaco, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, England, Wales, Scotland, Spain, France, Andorra, Bulgaria, Italy, Mexico and the U.S. States of California, Nevada, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, New York and Guam, the choir has achieved both national and international recognition as one of the top choirs in the world.

The UST SINGERS has put together a repertoire of competent interpretations that covers significant parts of the choral literature of the last five centuries, paving the way to the groups successes in the various international choral competitions particularly in Europe. Since 1993, the group has earned 24 top prizes in Gorizia, Italy; Tours, France; Lindenholzhausen, Germany; Miedzyzdroje, Poland; Spittal, Austria; Tolosa, Spain and Wales, United Kingdom.
In 1995, the UST SINGERS triumph at the 47th Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, United Kingdom with four (4) First Prizes and the Choir of the World Grand Prize was undeniably a landmark in the entire history of the Eisteddfod, the oldest international choral competition in the whole world, making them the first and only Asian choir, to date, to attain such prestigious honor.

Moreover in 1998, the UST SINGERS garnered two (2) First Prizes and the Prix du Public at the 27th Florilege Vocal de Tours in Tours, France and the 1998 Gran Premio "Citta di Gorizia" together with four (4) First Prizes at the 37th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale "C. A. Seghizzi" held in Gorizia, Italy besting 21 international entries which entitled the UST SINGERS to represent Gorizia at the 11th European Grand Prix of Choral Singing held at Varna, Bulgaria in May 1999.
Fresh from their 2001 Pacific Concert Tour where they visited Hawaii and California, the UST Singers were the Philippine representatives to the World Choral Festival 2001 in Puebla, Mexico in July. Once again, they drew raves and acclaim that earned them the distinction as the "BEST CHOIR" participated by choirs from Argentina, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Venezuela, Mexico, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
